Working Principle
The decanter centrifuge operates with a rotating drum and an internal scroll conveyor, both turning at high speeds with a controlled differential rotation. The suspension is fed continuously through a stationary inlet tube into the rotating bowl. Under high centrifugal force, solids—being heavier—are deposited against the drum wall, forming a sediment layer. The scroll conveyor continuously moves these settled solids toward the conical end of the drum, where they are discharged.
Meanwhile, the lighter liquid phases form distinct inner layers, with the clarified liquid overflowing through outlets located at the larger end of the drum. This process allows full-speed continuous operation, including feeding, separation, washing (if applicable), and discharge.
