304 Stainless Steel & Carbon Steel Automatic Quartz Sand & Activated Carbon Multi-Media Filter for Reclaimed Water Treatment
This fully automatic mechanical filtration system is suitable for industrial plants, mining operations, and municipal water supply facilities where filtered water turbidity is required to be below 5 mg/L, meeting drinking water quality standards. It effectively removes suspended solids from industrial wastewater, coagulating fine suspended matter into larger flocs that cannot be eliminated by sedimentation alone. By directing water through a dedicated filter media bed within a pressurized vessel, the system produces clear and purified effluent.
Also known as a pressure filter, the mechanical filter serves as essential pretreatment in pure water preparation and integrated water purification systems. Constructed in carbon steel with rubber lining or stainless steel (SS304), the unit can be filled with various filtration media—such as quartz sand, activated carbon, or manganese sand—depending on the application. These may be used individually or in combination to address specific water quality requirements.
The multi-media filter utilizes layers of quartz sand and anthracite to remove suspended solids, mechanical impurities, and organic matter, significantly reducing water turbidity.
The activated carbon filter employs activated carbon to adsorb pigments, organic pollutants, residual chlorine, and colloidal substances.
The manganese sand filter is designed specifically for removing ferrous ions from water.
By directing raw water through one or more filter media under pressure, the system effectively filters out impurities. Common media include quartz sand, anthracite, porous ceramic granules, and manganese sand, which can be selected and combined based on actual needs.
This mechanical filtration method is a well-established approach to reduce turbidity and remove suspended solids, organic compounds, colloidal particles, microorganisms, chlorine odor, and certain heavy metal ions, thereby significantly improving water quality.
Process Description
The mechanical filter acts as a pretreatment unit within water treatment systems, suitable for inlet water with turbidity levels of 1–10 NTU. It effectively removes suspended solids, particles, and colloids, reducing the turbidity and SDI (Silt Density Index) of the feedwater to meet influent requirements for subsequent demineralization equipment. The unit regenerates its filtration capacity through periodic backwashing.
Widely applied in reclaimed water reuse, tap water purification, wastewater treatment, central heating, HVAC systems, heat exchange systems, and industries including construction, power generation, metallurgy, rubber, and paper manufacturing.
