Separation Process
Loading the Mixture:
The liquid mixture containing various particles is introduced into the centrifuge. This mixture typically includes solids suspended in a liquid.
Spinning:
The centrifuge rotor spins at high speeds. The rapid rotation generates a strong centrifugal force that acts on the particles in the liquid.
Particle Movement:
Denser Particles:
Heavier or denser particles are pushed outward toward the edge of the discs due to the centrifugal force.
Lighter Components: Lighter particles remain closer to the center of the rotor.
Layer Formation:
As the separation progresses, distinct layers form within the centrifuge. The denser particles settle at the outer edges, while lighter components remain in the central region.
Collection: The separated components can then be collected from different outlets. The denser solids may be removed from the outermost part, while the lighter liquid phase can be drawn from the center.
